Dick's Uptown Cafe
Dick's Uptown Cafe opened Feb., 2009 by Dick and Teril Woodward. They have been residents of Cedar Hill for 13 years moving from Carrollton. Dick started managing restaurants beginning in the 70's. He got his start with The Sailmaker in Ft Worth/Dallas. Over the years to come he managed The Railhead(Houston), Banks and Shane's(Atlanta), Tolbert's Chili Parlor(Dallas), Banks and Shane's(Atlanta), and The Hoffbrau(Dallas/Ft.Worth which is where he met his wife, Teril. He was a partner in Crumly Cogwheels(Houston) beginning in 1976. In 1985 Dick was back in Dallas and opened Woodways Café in 1985 downtown Dallas with his wife. They had 2 other locations for a few years. In 1989 he took over Café Esprit in downtown Dallas in what then was the First City Bank Building. Cafe Esprit is still in operation. At the same time he had Woody's Grill in the adjacent building for 10 years which has since been sold. Teril works as Director of The Cedar Hill Education Foundation which raises funds for teacher grants in the local school district. Dick is fulfilling his desire to live and work in his hometown and end his commute to downtown Dallas for over 25 years.

We are now serving homemade Chili every day and adding soups of the week. This week we will have Split Pea and Ham Soup along with our regular Torttilla Soup and Baked Potato Soup.
